Orson Welles, creator of “Citizen Kane,” “Touch of Evil,” “F for Fake.” There will be centenary celebrations around the world.
Welles was as adept at radio and theater as he was at movies, After great initial success, he struggled to get his films completed. His last years were a series of guest spots, low brow commercials and appearances on Merv Griffen and Johnny Carson, telling stories, doing magic tricks and trying to figure out how to raise the money for his projects.
But one hundred years hence, we will still be watching his masterpiece’s.
